Flower Headbands

Last weekend my family and I attended Summerfest in Logan, Utah.  It is a outdoor art fair.  Artists from all over display and sale their paintings, jewelry, pottery, quilts, metal lawn art ect.

My oldest daughter really liked the cute metal headbands with the big flowers that one booth was selling for $10 a piece.  Well being the resourceful craft mother that I am (I have to be I have 4 kids 3 of which are daughters) I explained to Mikele that we could just make our own.  So after we left the show we hopped on over to Hobby Lobby to pick up our supplies.  I found the package of 3 metal headbands for 50% off (Yippee) and then I picked up a box of multicolor and sized flowers (you don't want the paper ones or they would get ruined if they ever got wet. Look for the silk or fabric flowers).

At home I mixed and layered the different flowers to come up with a half dozen different combination's.  Well then I had a dilemma. I only had 3 headbands. The best solution was to make the flowers interchangeable.  Here is what I came up with. I ran a tiny elastic through the holes of a button and slid that onto the headband. Then I attached a circle Velcro piece to the button.  After assembling the flowers with either a cute designer brad through the center or hot gluing the layers together and attaching a button to the center I attached the other side of the Velcro circle to the back of the flowers.  Now I have a headband for each daughter and they can switch their flowers and adjust where the flower sits on their head.  I would recommend instead of the elastic to try tying the button on with some embroidery floss. I think it would be less likely to break and less brittle then the elastics.

Enjoy!!!

Look who is turning One!!!

I can hardly believe that my sweet girl Allie is turning ONE!!!

Oh she is so excited too!

What have you got there Allie? Your birthday party invitation?

Thank you Allie!

I found this cute card on the CTMH bulletin board and it comes from my fellow teammate, Pam Jarrett. I also found another similar style on Lisa Stenz's blog, a fellow CTMH consultant. So I took the ideas from both and made my own.
Here are the cutting instructions for the flower pot and insert.
1. Cut a piece of cardstock to 3 1/2 x 9 inches.
2. Score at 2 inches and 5 1/2 inches.
3. Bend the 2 inch section forward and the larger section back.
4. Keeping the card folded at the bottom, place your card on the trimmer with the 2 inch score line even with the track and the bottom edge of the pot at the 1/2 inch mark on the right. Trim, turn your card over and repeat.
5. Cut an insert 2 1/2 x 4 1/2. Cut an inner piece 2 1/4 x 4 1/4. Adhere
6. Tie a ribbon completely around the top rim of the flower pot. DO NOT ADHERE THE SIDE OF THE POT.
7. Attach flowers to the top of the insert taking care to leave the bottom of the flowers free to hang over the edge of the pot.
8. Embellish.

I love those projects that look complicated and elaborate but are really slick and easy! Enjoy!!

May Booktable Layout

Today I just wanted to share with you the layout I created for the Booktable group.  This layout is actually covering two different events but I didn't want to do separate layouts for each so I combined them into one by focusing on the common link; the always changing life of a two year old.  The Big Pink flowers and dimensional elements for the title really made this layout. This layout design comes from my constant scrapbooking companion Imagine. Oh what would I do without my how-to books?

Mojo Monday & The Winner Is. . .

I know you really want to know who won the stamp set and the card but you will just have to keep reading first I want to show you the card I made for the Mojo Monday challenge. This is a first for me and was so much fun I don't know why I waited so long!

This card would be perfect to announce to family or friends that you are having a baby boy/girl. I used Close To My Heart's fun new My Creations A-Door-Ables to make the little hidden message. The paper comes from one of my favorite paper packets, Animal Cookies.  The adorable giraffe is from the Nursery Bash acrylix stamp set.

Here is a picture of the Mojo Monday sketch:

So are you ready to find out who the winner is?

Just a few second more! Card A was in the lead for the longest time but then in the end Card B won the most votes and was our winners favorite card!  For the record I used Random.org to pick the winner. And the winner was post number 18. Marjan You WON!!!
Marjan- please email me your mailing address and I will get your stamp set and card B mailed out to you. Congrats!!

I Need Your Opinion! Is it worth some Blog Candy?!

I just joined a little card swap group in my neighborhood. The theme for this month's swap is thank you cards.  I made two different cards and I can't decide which one to duplicate for the swap so I am calling on all of you to give your input! So if you wouldn't mind taking a few minutes and leave a comment about which card you would want to receive if you were in the swap it would be greatly appreciated! Oh and there is something in it for you too! I will randomly pick someone to receive not only the card they liked best but also the Close To My Heart stamp set "True Friends" ($22.95 value I posted a picture of the stamp set after the cards). I will be picking and posting the winner on Tuesday, June 8th at noon.

Thanks for your help!!!
